PICSE (Primary Industry Centre for Science Education) at USC works to encourage senior science students to pursue tertiary study and career pathways in science. PICSE runs many events and activities for students to engage them in science including the Industry Placement Scholarship (IPS) program for selected year 11 and 12 science students. The overall aim of the program is to provide students who are keen to pursue study at USC in career pathways with opportunities to interact with ‘real life’ scientists and researchers.
December 2011 - Opal Sternbaum from Mountain Creek State High School visits UnderWater World in the IPS Program.
UnderWater World is proud to be included in the list of local industries who are successfully providing unique, educational experiences to our local high school students. Opal found the overall experience extremely rewarding.
"A big thanks to you all. Whether you let me shadow you around all day or simply waved good morning, you all made this week pretty amazing".
January 2011 - Nick Kauter visits UnderWater World
In January, Noosa District High School’s Year 12 ‘aspiring science’
student, Nick Kauter had the rare opportunity to see how a passion for
science and aquatic animals can fit together so perfectly. We hope
Nick's experience here at UnderWater World has fostered his love of
marine science and we wish him all the best!’
