Extend Your Visit

ADD MORE FUN, EXTEND YOUR VISIT!

Make the most of your time at UnderWater World by combining any Secondary program (years 8-12) with either our Extended Investigations or Rocky Shore Researcher program.

EXTENDED INVESTIGATIONS

Take part in a day visit at UnderWater World then allow your students to visit all month long to learn even more!

Extended Experimental Investigations (EEIs) provide diverse learning experiences and assessment opportunities for senior students. Expose students to the processes of science through open investigation. The EEIs are designed to enhance the Tourism and Animal Behaviour programs.

Animal Behaviour - Adaptations and Animal Behaviour
Through an introduction to core concepts underpinning the study of animal behaviour students will identify the influences of adaptations and environment.

Senior Tourism - Investigation into a Tourist Destination
This program provides an insight into the iconic tourism destination - UnderWater World. The program provides an understanding of the marketing strategies behind design and presentation of precincts to ensure success.

Students will:
   - suggest a course of action
   - define a hypothesis
   - propose experimental design
   - execute experimental procedure
   - analyse data
   - evaluate, justify and present their own explanation of
natural phenomena through their personal experience of it.

These problem-based programs include a monthly 'researcher' pass and access to 'real world' mentors, promoting opportunities to enhance scientific literacy. Mastery of content is achieved through engaging in genuine intellectual enquiry.

ROCKY SHORE RESEARCHER (1hr)

This exciting and unique program can be added as an extension to any of our Secondary programs (years 8-12) and involves a one hour, supervised visit to the rocky shore at Mooloolaba Beach. Students will learn about rocky shore habitats, the life forms that inhabit them and the adaptations necessary for survival. Promoting cross-curricular objectives, students gain practical experience while conducting ecological surveys.

NOTE: This program needs to be booked in conjunction with low tide conditions. During booking, our Reservationist can help you determine when these times will be on the day of your visit.
