Introducing Moana

SEA LIFE Mooloolaba's newest rescued seal pup

SEA LIFE Mooloolaba introduces its newest resident Moana, a playful young long-nosed fur seal rescued as part of the aquarium’s marine protection and rehabilitation program.

The female seal pup, estimated to be around one year old, sustained a serious eye injury that left her permanently visually impaired when she was found stranded on a beach in Coffs Harbour in November.

Unable to hunt due to her injury and severely malnourished, Moana was brought to SEA LIFE Mooloolaba to be rehabilitated and will be welcomed by the Sunshine Coast attraction’s eight other resident seals.

Moana was very weak and weighed just 7kg when she was deemed unfit for re-release and brought to SEA LIFE under their BREED RESCUE PROTECT initiative, which promotes conservation of marine habitats while providing facilities to rehabilitate sick and injured animals.

You can see Moana playing daily in our main pool.
