SEA LIFE is a top Sunshine Coast attraction and a popular school excursion venue for both Sunshine Coast and Brisbane schools. Full to the brim with educational yet fun kids activities, we have a comprehensive collection of aquatic life your students are sure to love. What's more, our supported curriculum based tours will add value to your classroom learning.

Our OCEAN Program meets the needs of ACARA requirements and provides a fun-filled excursion where learning comes from exploring, problem solving, questioning and investigation. It's hands on and interactive, the best watery classroom on the Sunshine Coast.

These lessons will be available from Term 2 2018. When booking your excursion please use the name of the lesson and year level.

OCEAN TOTS: My First SEA 

This program involves exploration of our rock pools followed by some play-based activities with one of our educators, where students are encouraged to role-play, explore and imagine.

OCEAN KIDS Foundation: Habitats 

This program highlights the wonder of the aquatic world and allows for a journey of discovery where, problem solving and care for the marine environment are encouraged and fostered. Students will recognise and compare the needs of living creatures including their homes and plants needed to survive.

OCEAN KIDS All Primary: Conservation

This conservation-based program is designed to get your students thinking about how science is used to care for our amazing marine environments. Students will identify ways in which we can manage and protect precious resources, such as water, and learn how to reduce and recycle waste at home and in school, to help protect threatened species and their habitats.

OCEAN KIDS Year 1 & 2: External Features

This program teaches your students about the wonderful objects in the sea, and their shapes, sizes, names & colours and why animals and plants are designed the way they are for their survival. Leaders can utilise worksheets to get students focused, or the students can complete it themselves.

OCEAN KIDS Year 1 & 2: Habitats

This program allows your students to explore our 16 interactive zones and discover unique watery habitats such as the rock pools, freshwater streams and the ocean. Students will learn about living, non-living and once-living things and get them thinking about how changes to creature's habitats can affect their survival.

OCEAN KIDS Year 1 & 2: Animal Breeding

This program is designed to teach your students about plants and animals of the aquatic world and the ways in which they change and grow over time. They will recognise the different characteristics of the life cycle of frogs, fish, reptiles and even seals as they explore our 16 different interactive zones.

This program looks at the different life cycles of animals in aquatic environments and how they differ from plants. Students will describe the different stages of the life cycles of frogs, fish, sharks and mammals!

OCEAN KIDS Year 3 & 4: Classification

In this program students will be introduced to a variety of habitats and the fascinating animals which call them home. Students will deepen their understanding of the differences between living, once living and products of living things by examining ocean artefacts and a range of unique organisms. They will also be given the tools to identify animals based on physical characteristics and classify them into groups.

This program is designed for students to explore a variety of marine habitats and investigate the lives of the species who live there. Students will identify the roles species have in food chains and the impact humans can have on these.

OCEAN TEENS Year 7 & 8: Classification 

This program gives students an insight into biological classification systems and teaches them how to group animals by looking at observable characteristics, using basic keys to help identify species and gives them an introduction to hierarchical systems and scientific names.

Ocean Teens Year 11 & 12

OCEAN TEENS Year 11 & 12: Habitats

A program that allows students to explore the ecology of aquatic communities by doing
abundance and richness surveys and looking at methods of monitoring environmental factors.

OCEAN TEENS Year 11 & 12: Adaptations

This program explores the structural, functional and behavioral adaptations that enhance an organisms’ survival in the wild.

OCEAN TEENS Year 11 & 12: Classification

Students investigate the human endeavour to group organisms. They will be exposed to and learn about taxonomic hierarchies, the adaptations that allow for suitable grouping and the challenges faced in achieving this.

OCEAN TEENS Year 11 & 12: Water Quality

Your students will discover how an open system aquarium operates and the implications that arise if strict water quality standards are not met. This program teaches students how important water quality is to maintain marine and aquatic health. Conduct real water quality tests on site and experience a Behind the Scenes tour to see the inner-workings of the aquarium!

Your students will discover how the Aquarium operates as a successful QLD business.
